Carlo Acutis Miracles Explained

The two miracles that led to his beatification and canonization

First Miracle: Mattheus from Brazil

The first miracle attributed to Carlo's intercession involved Mattheus, a Brazilian boy born with a rare pancreatic defect. After his family prayed for Carlo's intercession, the child was miraculously healed. This miracle was approved in February 2020, leading to Carlo's beatification on October 10, 2020.

Second Miracle: Valeria from Costa Rica

The second miracle involved Valeria, a Costa Rican woman who suffered a severe brain hemorrhage after a bicycle accident in 2022. After prayers to Carlo, she experienced a complete recovery. This miracle was approved by Pope Francis on May 23, 2024, clearing the way for Carlo's canonization on September 7, 2025.

What Makes a Miracle?

The Catholic Church investigates alleged miracles rigorously, requiring medical documentation, expert testimony, and proof that the healing was instantaneous, complete, and scientifically inexplicable. Both of Carlo's miracles met these strict criteria.
